Transferring out of NYU

hi! I'm a Tisch Film and Television major looking to transfer out of NYU. I've discovered I'm more interested in Screenwriting and Producing aspects of film, leaving me not very interested in my production major. It's not very intellectually stimulating. So I would love a school that combines my love for the arts but isn't watered down academically to the point of boredom. I'm looking for a school with a strong sense of community, most likely a communications program, a creative/dramatic writing program, a business program (at least a minor).or an independent major-esqe thing.

Stats:
HS GPA: 3.51 (at a competitive NE prep school). Took 5 Aps
Bio (4), US History (4), Physics B (4), Statistics (3), Studio Art (no grade...it's complicated)
College GPA (which includes non film courses people): 3.9 (nearly a 4.0)
SATs: I can't even remember, like an 1190.
ACTs: 28... I think.

College ECs:
-E-board for Women's History Month Planning Committee (2 years) Current co-chair. Received a President's Service Award for our 2007 programming and another university wide leadership award.
- E-board for my Residence Hall (1 year). Chaired two events so far.
- College Democrats (2 years of crazy canvassing).
- Interned for a Non-profit women's organization
- Research Assistant in NYU Law development office (20 hrs of work per week)
- I also work 40 hours per week at the local Subway (the sandwich shop) during summer and winter breaks.

Schools I'm considering:
Brown
Davidson
Elon (though my brother was accepted here, and if he decides to go, I promised I wouldn't)
UNC Chapel Hill

And I'll definitely consider any of your suggestions.
Thanks

3/4 in NC. Like the state? lol.

more like I like the weather and I like the cost of education. haha.

Ha. Great state though. I really loved living there.

bump please

Boston University has a good communications program. You might also want to look into Syracuse.

What about USC?

They have a communications, business and film schools. And they have a really interesting/supportive double major program.

thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into both.

Thank you all for your suggestions. As I said, I'm looking for a change of mindset and programs that practice critical thinking--a skill in my opinion much more important than final cut pro or an undergraduate thesis I spent 3,000 out of my own pocket.

I'm giving Tisch another semester and at the moment, I'm considering transferring to:
Brown
Columbia
NYU-Gallatin (not perfect but a possible compromise).
and...I'm talking to my advisor for other suggestions.

I'm also taking steps to meet with two of my professors from last semester, a couple people from gallatin, and of course my advisor. I'm also talking to the head of the screenwriting & animation concentration to discuss my dilemma.

I'm also going to stop by Brown and Columbia before I go back to NYU with a list of courses and an outline of what I want to do to see if it is even feasable at the respective university.

tons of people in the film and tv industry went to USC so if you graduate from somewhere else it might stand out on your resume and such.....i'd say strongly look at Columbia

thanks kingmears52.
