Transferring OUT of the ERC !!

I'm a junior transfer and I got placed into the ERC, my third choice. After taking a look at their GE reqs, I'm starting to go nuts. 3 MMW classes, foreign language, which I can probably test out of, upper div regional specialization, upper div writing intensive course...

I'm not here to spend all this money on GEs, no matter how "well-rounded" I'll be after its completion.

Can anyone here help me who goes to UCSD or know of this process of transferring out of the ERC and into a more science directed college, such as warren which seems to only require a year of science and math...which is perfect for me being a bio chem major.

God I'm stressing here. Anyone have some advice? Thanks!

I was accepted into UCSD, but chose UCD instead. I do remember while touring there that the guide said transfers were next to impossible and that you had to spend (I think a full year) in the college they put you in before it would even be considered by UCSD. I was admitted into sixth, so yeah dude I'm not going there. Have you tried searching their web-site for more information?

Talk to your college counselors. IIRC, you need to stay in the college for a year before you transfer. I recommend you transfer to Warren or Muir, they have the best GEs IMO.

It's not a year...it's two quarters. In order for a transfer be approved, one has to prove that they would graduate two quarters earlier at their new college.

With the absurd amount of GEs I'd have to take, it's definitely 2 quarters worth. My last two quarters would be:

2nd to last quarter:
MMW5
German 3
Some upper div regional spec #1

last quarter:
MMW6
German 4
Some upper div regional spec #2

I would not have to take these classes if I were in another college. So I guess this is adequate enough to show I would graduate two quarters earlier I hope...

"Have you tried searching their web-site for more information?"

Yeah I tried too, but I found no relevant information.

Why would I have to wait two quarters though mikoyle? If I were to submit a transfer request now, would it not take effect next quarter?

Nope, I was told by advisors at ERC and Sixth that I would go to ERC for a semester. Then in my second semester I would file the request. Then, if approved I would be at Sixth my third semester. All of the advisors have wished me luck, since intercollege transfers are hard to get.

I think every1 here(including me) is a freshman except ChrsitO so I guess all the info we are givin him applies to freshman only(?).I guess it would be easier to transfer out of ur college if ur a transfer.I dunno why or how would UCSD not let transfers who are in ur position change their colleges(especially since ull hv tried so hard 2 save tution by goin 2 a CC).Best of Luck.

I imagine it would be harder for freshman to transfer out as it's more of a hassle, seeing as though you're living in the dorms and they would have to find you new living quarters/room mates, but I'm not living on campus.

In fact, the whole inter college system is pretty useless to me as the ONLY thing which affects me are the graduation reqs. At least the rest of you will be living in the area for two years, which is a good and bad thing maybe, hehe.

but we'll see, still trying to find information on the website for the whole thing. I think I may just call tomorrow, but for some reason I get the feeling that the ERC counselor will be somewhat annoyed by my inquiries, perhaps I'll talk to Warren counselors, the college I'd like to transfer into...
