Hi, what is the likelihood of getting accepted with a 3.2 gpa? And can anyone please give me info on the petro program at Mines? I’m out of state and am eagerly inquiring.

If you look at the CDS for Mines… I think you can get a decent idea if you are going to get accepted or not. Without your ACT/SAT scores, tough to answer. Their website is fairly detailed, I would look there for petro info.

Many of my friend’s sons study petroleum engineering at Mines. The program includes a summer experience at an oil rig or other petroleum facility. My next door neighbor is a senior in petroleum engineering, has a summer job in Texas and now has a fantastic job offer in Texas. Mines has ties to CA, TX and CO oil and gas firms. While there has been a layoff, recently I think the industry is still a good place to have a career. Natural Gas hydraulic fracking is a huge business here in Colorado too, as we have one of the larger natural gas reserves in the region.
I got in as a transfer with a 3.3. I left after a semester because I hated it, but that’s a different story
http://inside.mines.edu/Common_Data_Set theres a link to the CDS mentioned by LCalum. I was thinking of transferring as well, from CU Boulder, and its good to know about the schools ties to multiple states and their oil industries
