Can anyone suggest how many prerequisite classes would be needed for the Information Systems/Comp Sci Dept since
I’m an upcoming comp sci student, I would to know aside from the regular classes that I want to transfer; would I need some sort of intro classes or programming intro classes, etc?
Good question. We don’t admit transfer directly into CS, because the department asks that students complete the two intro courses first, 114 and 215. PDF link to bulletin pages: http://sb.cc.stonybrook.edu/bulletin/current/academicprograms/cse/index.pdf
If you have the equivalents of those two courses, then you can talk to the department immediately after admission. You’d have to check our transfer guide (stonybrook.edu/transfer) for your school to see if we have evaluated courses that are equivalent at wherever you’re coming from.
The program also requires Calc, so it’s important that you have that as well. Physics is preferred, but not as important as calc.
Hope this helps – if you want, email us at enroll@stonybrook.edu and we can go into more detail.

Ah I see, I would also assume it is almost the same requirements as you just stated go the same for the Information System major if im correct? since its housed in the Comp Sci Department. I’m trying to apply for that major to transfer,

No, to #1. I transfer credits to 114, 214, and 215. But CS department most likely thinks they are inferior. So you will need to take 219, a programming course, and 373, a theory course. So if you want to be CS major, choose one of them:
1, Focus on satisfying the general requirement(SBC), then take 114 and 215 in Stony Brook.
2, Take 114 and 215, you will take 219 and 373 in Stony Brook.
I am not in Information System, so I suggest you to ask the department through email.
