Transferring: Realistic or not?

Hey guys! Haven't been here for awhile...

Anyway, I'm a freshman in a small, Catholic private university. I applied to MIT as a high school senior and got rejected. I want to apply again next year as a transfer, but I have heard that the transfer process is ridiculously hard, practically impossible.

Is there anyone here who has actually transferred to MIT? (Haven't seen anyone) If so, what did you do? I understand that MIT chooses people based on how good of a "match" you are, and of course it is illogical to tailor your schedule based on "how to get into MIT" rather than "how to do what you love to do", but I am still looking for some advise.

Who I am:

A biology and mathematics double degree freshman (B.A. in Bio and B.S. in mathematics) with a minor in chem.

As it's my first year in college, I don't have a GPA yet, but this is how my schedule and grades currently looks like:

Calc 3 (A)
Physics w/ Calc (B+)
Physics Lab (A)
Chemistry (A)
Chem Lab (A)
Bio (A)
Bio Lab (A)

Other stuff:

Vice President of Math & Astronomy Club

Active member in Bio Club

Honors Program

Science Fellow (a program that gives full scholarship to accepted bio, chem and math majors)

Other, other stuff:

Research in spinal cord injury in zebrafish (ongoing and with school)

ALS independent study (personal project since forever. lol)

I love my school but my dream school has always been MIT. I feel that MIT would challenge me like nothing else, and that the people I would meet there would push me to reach my fullest potential.

Anyway,

Has anyone here transferred to MIT? What did you do? How hard is it, really, to transfer?

What should I do?

Thank you very much for your input. =)

the administration is “studying” a 3/2 program where you would do 3 years at your home institution and 2 years at MIT [or the other way around, i dont remember the details]. Since they are discussing this as a way of enhancing revenue [beats cutting those admin jobs, salaries and benefits i guess] and are looking to cut another 60 million from the tute budget this year, I wouldnt hope for any financial aid. take a look at the mit state of the institute forum and the preliminary report of the Institute-wide Planning Task Force if youre interested in the proposals.

dont know when or if.

Transferring is highly competitive. The Institute accepts a very small number of transfers each year. Small enough, in fact, that nobody on this board has enough information to make an intelligent determination, or offer much useful help.
