I am currently going to Southwestern Michigan college and am going to earn a associates degree in application development. I want to go on to get a bachelor’s degree. I have been thinking about going to Eastern because it is closer to because i sister went there and said they had a good computer program. I have also been looking at Michigan tech.
Which college has the better program or is there another school i should look at.
I’ve yet to work with a bad engineer from MTU. It’ll happen someday and I’ll be heartbroken, but it hasn’t happened yet. DD has applied to MTU and if the money works out, it’ll be her first choice I think. I think when we visited the CS prof who spoke to our group said their average CS starting salary was mid 70’s. I believe they charter a bus over breaks to take people to the Ann Arbor/Detroit area. Also, the crime rate is quite low in Houghton. The weather is a challenge, though.
While there isn’t a thing wrong with EMU, there isn’t anything remarkable about it as far as I know. Ypsilanti isn’t bad.
Other schools …
Western Michigan has a decent engineering program (I know, CS isn’t engineering, but it isn’t so far off).
Lake State will probably be less expensive and have a lot of personal interaction. But it’s small, which is either good or bad.
I think Toledo and maybe Bowling Green have tuition reciprocity with Michigan. Toledo also has a co-op program, which might be useful for you.
