I'm considering transferring schools to an ivy prep high school since my current one has an acceptance of 2% into a good school for the past several years. Also, my class is corrupt in that theres a lot of undetected cheating and not honest test taking then realized by teachers. I've tried stopping it, but the advice I gave was disregarded as unlikely. So, would that help my chances or would it seem suspicious?

1.There is no such thing as an ivy prep school. Do your research before asking questions!
2.Cheating is common at most public schools, and what other people at your school do does not effect you.
3.Getting into prep schools for senior year is EXTREMELY unlikely. Especially the top tier schools.
4.Spending one year at a prep school wont really help you college application, when you are applying, you would have only spent a couple months at the school and would still be adjusting.
5. If you do need FA, you have almost no chance.

I learned all this from common sense and prep school research. You should have looked online at the schools websites! If you are completely serious about applying, the just about only thing for you to do is apply as a repeat junior.

Yes it does, especially when they manipulate the ranking

That’s why I’m asking, but I think I may have a chance

I thought it would at least get me into a school where IV acceptance records are higher despite similar grades with other public schools

I don’t. It would just be nice to get it.

I doubt I’d repeat. My grades are no where near justified for me to repeat.

My apologies on the ivy school thing(I assumed you meant like the ivy league colleges). Sadly, cheating at public schools happens All the time. Depending on the schools, getting all A’s at one school could be the same as getting B’s or C’s at another school. And I suggested repeating Because I assumed you were talking about boarding schools. at boarding schools, the classes are extremely different from public school classes, so repeating is not as big a deal.
I hope you find what your looking for!

if your only goal is to get into a good college, i would advise against transferring. many of the schools on that list (ivy prep league) are superb, ultra-competitive schools, where the workload is totally crushing and would probably lead to a decrease in your grades. and your college counselor would know basically nothing about you, so you’d need to work really fast for glowing recs from them.

ps - about the whole cheating issue, cheating is everywhere. HM is kind of notorious for it.

i don’t think it would help your chances, but i don’t think it would be suspicious either… if you’re absolutely miserable at your current school, go for it, but otherwise, i would stay put. just my two cents…

best of luck!

Thanks! Yeah, I guess it would be better not to. And I wasn’t at all intimidated by the work. I couldn’t imagine them giving any more work than I already get, and I have a pretty long work retention period so as long as it doesn’t keep me up allnight more than once consecutively, it would have been fine
