transferring schools within cornell?

I'm an incoming freshman and was accepted to Human Ecology (my first choice). However, ive recently come to conclusion that the Agriculture school may be better for me. I want to do nutritional sciences (both schools offer the major) but i'm also interested in food science (which only CALS offers).

How do you apply to switch? is it hard ? Would it be possible to do so before my first semester? I figure that since the programs of study are very similar that regardless of which school im in for the first semester i would still be taking practically the same classes (gen eds and such).

I dont have an advisor or counselor to talk to about this...perhaps i should call the undergraduate admissions office? thoughts/ suggestions greatly appreciated!

In most cases, a switch between schools is doable.

I don’t think it can be done before first semester. If memory serves, you ‘apply’ to the new school. Acceptance isn’t guaranteed but it usually happens.

In your case – I would speak to your advisor. If your major is offered in your college, but you want a related minor that’s in another school, it may very well be doable.

Good luck.
