transferring spring semester aid

I am currently getting a good amount of financial aid to pay for my suny school (suny cortland) and I have enough so that I can pay for this upcoming fall semester. If i transfer to university at buffalo the spring semester and change my fafsa...do you think I will get much lesser aid because they will have to do the financial aid late in the year or it will not effect it? Also, does anyone know anything about UB's financial aid. I am currently getting a very good package from suny cortland.

I don’t have personal knowledge about Buffalo, but generally speaking aid for transfer students is less and aid for spring transfers even less. BUT it depends on the types of aid you are receiving. If you are getting a Pell grant and Stafford loans, those should remain the same. I am not a TAP expert, but I believe that would also be in place. If you have any grants that are specific to Cortland, you can’t expect buffalo to meet those. Work study would be iffy for spring term.

Also, am i still able to get aid if i have to do an extra semester due to the fact that i am transferring and i may not be able to finish all classes in the 2 year period

^^^

You’ll have to ask the school. Some schools and some states limit the number of years that you can get aid.
