I am a music student in Rochester
I feel as though I am in a toxic community probably because it is a competitive school, only 120 students get in per year, and we are measured by our talents. Of course with that comes many consequences in dealing with people and etc.
on top of that Its not new to me that i have anxiety and depression.
Recently i find myself longing for a larger community and bigger school with a more urban area.
Also i don’t know if music is the path for me. I can see my grades starting to go down, and the curriculum isn’t that hard.
There are times I wish i majored in biology instead
yes double major is possible, but i don’t think my mind can handle it.
I would like to transfer schools
in high school i had a 3.3 gpa, the lowering of my grade actually started in senior year, i was going through alot of emotions and stress. However maintained a 3.8 until end of junior year. yes it really sucks, i know i’m better than that and i’m trying to get my life together.
I was extremely lucky to get into the school im in, but it is just not for me
can anyone give me advice and maybe some college recommendations on transferring
As a music student to another major and a different school, what do i need to do?
You can take community college classes to meet the gen eds of whatever college you’re trying to transfer to, or you can start taking gen eds at Rochester. Can’t you transfer within Rochester itself, though (I assume you are at Eastman)?
If you’re not sure what you want to do, community college is a sound decision. This will give you time to decide, then transfer to a university with a direction and a purpose. You also don’t have the kind of toxic cliquish environments there because pretty much everyone commutes.
