Transferring to a CSU from a CCC.

I am currently a freshman at a CCC and want to transfer to SF state's economics major. I called the economics department of SFSU, and they told me that I don't have to take my pre-major courses (micro, macro and calc I) before I transfer and that I can take them at SFSU after I get into the econ major. They also told me that I just have to complete 60 sem units, including all GE courses in it. I am really unsure because UC transfer students have to complete their pre-major courses before they transfer. Does CSU, specifically SFSU, have a different transfer system? Thank you!

I’m not entirely sure, several of my friends who transferred to CSU’s/UC’s didn’t complete their pre-req’s (missing physics-eletro/mag or differentials, essentially core classes) but they still got in as long as they have 60 units to transfer over. They just have to take the classes there instead.

Assist.org is your friend, as well as Csumentor.

But Corgi basically has it right. I believe you MUST have your GE done, but major prep doesn’t have to be. I’m not sure if having the major prep done makes you a better candidate or not.

Before you go crazy with classes though, check out Assist and make sure the courses you need to take actually articulate to the college.
