Transferring to a CSU without Golden 4

Hi! I’m graduating with my AA-T this semester and will be applying to CSUs this next month! My dilemma is that I have completed my “Golden Four” but as of now, my critical thinking class is a “D”! I REALLY wanted to attend CSU Channel Islands but they require the “Golden Four” to be completed with a C- or better by Summer semester (for Spring transfers) and I’m enrolled to retake the class this fall semester! Now I’m really stressed because it’s the school I’ve been planning on (based on their major-required classes and accepting Spring transfers). If I’ve taken the class but didn’t receive a C, yet enrolled to retake it this next semester, do I have a chance of being accepted? Or is it a cut throat/computerized requirement? Any experience or knowledge in this would be appreciated! Thanks!

I just transferred to a CSU and they are very strict about the golden four. My last golden four class (math) was in progress when I was accepted, and had to be finished by the end of the spring semester or they would have rescinded my acceptance. What are the final transcript deadlines for CSUCI? CSUN’s deadline for Fall 17’ was a little over a month from the end of the spring semester for my CC. I had to cram the math classes through in a hurry (fall-winter-spring) because they wouldn’t allow me to finish the last math class during summer 17’.

@RedLari it did say the golden 4 had to be completed by summer semester :frowning: I just didn’t know how strict that is or if there’s any leg room. What a bummer.

If you are a strong applicant, maybe… the answer probably varies by campus and year to year.
I’d contact both and see.

You will not be accepted to Channel Islands if the rules are “finish Golden 4 by summer” and you don’t finish it by summer.

And if you were accepted before you failed your golden 4 class then they will take away your Acceptance.
