Transferring to a different school. What steps must I follow?

I'm transferring schools due to financial reasons. What forms do I have to fill out to ensure a smooth process of transferring schools. I haven't been able to find any forms online. Thanks

This should help with your leaving Virginia Tech: [Resignation & Withdrawal | Virginia Tech](http://www.registrar.vt.edu/resignation_withdrawal/index.html)

Other than that, the rest of the transferring process and requirements come from whatever school you’re transferring to. You’ll probably need to pay to have transcriptions sent from Virginia Tech, also done from this office, but that’s probably it for things you need to deal with through Tech.

I transferred from a different school to Tech, and I can second what financiallylost said. Other than sending your transcripts the majority of the process is done through the institution you wish to transfer to. For me, I had to apply, have the transcripts sent, and have my financial aid/FAFSA info sent to Tech. You’ll want to make sure that you add the new institution to your FAFSA so they can process it for financial aid. If you are currently registered for any classes for the Fall semester at Tech (if you’re transferring for the Fall) then you will have to withdraw/drop them all as well. I literally did nothing with my old institution besides have transcripts sent.
