I currently go to San Jose State right now, and it wasn't my choice of school. My parents limited me significantly in where I could have applied to last year. My top choice was Cal Poly SLO, and I got rejected. I really want to leave SJSU and go to Cal Poly. They said I can't transfer in until I have completed 60 semester credits, which essentially means I have to wait until I'm a Junior, and I don't want to wait that long. Is it possible to transfer in as a "Freshman" next year, and then see if my credits from SJSU transfers over?

California schools are pretty unusual, but I believe the state schools do require you to transfer as a junior (60 hrs). That’s not the case with the majority of colleges (both private and out of state public). You can transfer after freshman year at most colleges (some even accept spring transfers during freshman year!), but not the CA public as far as I know.

But ask this question in the California Forums and see if someone from CA can help you more (I may be wrong -I hope I am in this case):
