Transferring to a film school from out of state

Hi,

I want to transfer to either USC or UCLA from a community college in VA. I'm trying to go in the fall of 2014, so application deadlines are coming up. I was looking through each University's site, just double checking things that I need, and noticed that the UCLA screenwriting program is 2 years and the USC screenwriting program is 4 years. Is this right? I thought both were 2 years. I'm considered a sophomore now and will graduate with an Associates in General Studies with over 60 credits by the time I'm done here, and I'm not trying to go to school for another 4 years.

Also, does anyone who has gotten into either of these school have any advice for me? I know how difficult it can be to set your self apart from all the other applicants. I'm 25 and have loads of real world experience, unfortunately none of them have anything to do with community service or film. I have a 3.75 GPA as of now and hope to raise it. I'm really counting on the supplemental material to help me stand apart, given that my writing skills are as good as I hope they are.
