Transferring to a new CC after getting my Associates

After 2 years at a CC, I graduated with my associates degree. Unhappy with my grades and wanting to transfer to a university, is it possible to go back to a community college, take more classes and boost my gpa before trying to transfer to a University?

please, can someone shed some insight?

Yes, you can take or retake classes to show improvement. Three consideration: one, you may have difficulty getting financial aid if you need it, since you may have most if not all of the credits for most majors at another community college; two, your GPA will be calculated by the transfer institution to which you apply, and what they choose to include and consider is up to them; and three, transfer institutions may have a maximum number of credits that you can transfer, so you may end up with extra credits that won’t transfer.

I fail to understand how taking more classes will achieve something you were not able to do the first time around. What are you planning on doing differently if you do go back, that you did do when you went for your AA? I don’t know which State you live in (It might be a Federal Mandate?), but a lot of States now have rules in place which assign a cost penalty per credit hour for courses beyond a certain number of credits. So, if the rule is the 150% rule, then any credits over an accumulated 90 credits will see you be charged a much larger cost per credit, than you are accustom to paying so far. The excess credits will follow you to your 4-year institution also and might trigger “Excess Credit” tuition rates, which can be as high as OOS rates!

These rules were put in place for people like you who just wants to milk the system for what they may and take up valuable space/resources that could be directed at students who really need these courses/resources to obtain their AA Degree. Some even use this approach not to increase their GPA, but to continue access to Pell Grant and Federal Subsidized Student loan, funds that these students have grown accustom to for meeting the living expenses.

Given your Grades as it stands now, can you transfer to a number of 4-year Institutions that meets your requirements? Why waste time taking more courses just to raise your GPA, which, depending on how low it is, will take considerable effort in time and courses to raise it to a significant level? BTW, what is your current GPA and what are your targeted Universities and potential major?
