transferring to a school you previously applied to

Hey all,

I'm applying to a school I applied to last year (was wait-listed, not admitted), but was wondering: would this be looked upon favorably? I mean, would I have a slightly better chance because I already showed considerable interest in the school, or would the fact that I had already been denied admission be considered a detriment to my current application? This was my first choice last year, and I've still not quite gotten over it...

The vast majority of people I have talked to say its a good thing. It can't hurt. The worst thing that can happen is that you will get rejected again. The best thing, which is probably unlikely, is that there will be a .000000000000000000000000001 benefit by showing your interest.

Conclusions? It probably doesn't matter one way or the other. I would probably wait for a JR transfer though so you can demonstrate more qualifications (high gpa at more credits).

Some schools care about the "demonstrated interest" factor much more than others. I know in freshman admissions, Emory used to say that they didn't differentiate between Common App users and Emory App users; it came to light at an information session in my high school that they actually like their own app a little bit more (if only because it shows that they took the time for Emory). Others dont care at all.

I think matm is probably better versed than I, but if you were wait-listed last year then a GPA better than your high school one with good EC's might just get you in. Plus you get another crack at the essays. Apply.

I just noticed you are applying. I guess my statement was more of a response to the "wait" sentiment.
