transferring to a school you were accepted to but din not attend

I applied to 10 schools and only got into 4 (2 being safeties), Tufts being my greatest hurrah. I feel lucky to have had as much success as I did with the admissions this year. I would think that the admission process for transfer students would be even more competitive because of the few spots available, no? I'm just now considering the option to save some money, so if someone could fill me in on the whole transfer scene I'd really appreciate it.

If I decided to transfer to Tufts as say a Sophomore/Junior is it of any advantage to me admissions wise that I was accepted as a freshman but didn't attend? I mean, it can't hurt, but would it really be easier to gain entrance to Tufts (or any other school for that matter) the second time around?

Also, are there any special circumstances for transfer students in terms of financial aid? For instance, I heard that transfers at Brown are not elligible to receive finaid.

transfer acceptance rate: Approx 10%
Freshman acceptance rate: Approx 30%

Go now, the transfer process is not fun and requires a considerable commitment that will cut into your freshman year big time.

i was wondering that too... do transfer students basically get the shaft for financial aid and scholarships?
