I’m a current first year student at UCSC, and after almost 2 quarters, I realized this school was not meant for me, and I want to transfer to a different UC. Would it be better to continue another year and transfer as a UC student to another UC, or go to my local CC and apply next year as a CC student?
I am a proposed CS/Math double major.
If you want to be CS, you’d be better off coming from a community college and TAG-ing. It’s very difficult to get into some of the UC’s CS departments even if you’re already a student at that UC itself. Berkeley, for example, has very strict standards and many lower div CS students are never accepted to the actual major.
Santa Cruz’s CS department is quite good though, and you’re only a car ride away from Silicon Valley. Are you sure you’ve given it a good try? Maybe you’d be happier with an intensive internship and more academically inclined friends, or maybe you’d be happier joining a sport/dance team in your free time for a more active social life.
