Transferring to an English college?

Hi,

I am actually attending a decent school in the states inthe fall but my family is moving to England next summer so I was wondering if it is possible to transfer to an English college after the first 1 or even 2 years at an American college.

If so, what kind of process is invovled here and which colleges are open to American transfers?

Thanks

Bump?

Anyone?

Check with the colleges in question, but there are some general differences between US and UK schools that may affect your ability to transfer. First, most UK schools offer 3 year programs, and students focus on their major immediately with few "elective" courses.

Again, check with the individual colleges in question, but you may find your credits from the US won't easily transfer if they are more of the "general education" variety.

Two sites that may be of help:

www.ucas.ac.uk will help you learn about application procedures for UK schools, and also connect you to UK schools.

www.aaicu.org - The Association of American International Colleges and Universities - these are colleges located abroad that have been accredited according to US standards, and follow curriculums similar to colleges located in the US. I believe that the only UK member is Richmond University (nice school by the way), but double check.

Good luck!
