Transferring to an Ivy From UCLA

hi everyone,
I just started ucla and finished my first quarter here, scoring a 3.9GPA and being involved in various activities. I actually am a very social person and have a great resume.
My sat score is 2100 and i scored 800s from math 1 and 2. And I had a gpa of 4.5 out of 5 in my high school, my last two years being both 5.0s. I know there are a lot more factors effecting an admission process, but i just want to hear opinions about this: do you think my freshman gpa is good enough for transferring to Columbia, Wharton and NYU Stern(not an ivy)??

p.s I am studying business-economics at UCLA.

I do say 3.9 GPA is pretty good if you can keep it up through second quarter… although the rigor of the courses matter. What classes did you take?

SAT Score I say is below average, but still in the ballpark for transferring. Also are you an international student?

Your GPA is fine but I’m not sure how these schools look at Freshman transfers. I would say you need a really great reason why UCLA does not fit and why each of schools you are looking at are a much better fit.

yes I am an international student. I took Calculus2, English Composition and History of Modern Thought. They are tough classes, especially the last one in among the toughest for freshmen. I have my reasons and I will state them in my essays, and I’m planning to retake the SAT1 in case I would score better. Thanks for helping !!

No Economics classes?

i read somewhere that Penn prefers sophomores over junior transfers… for Wharton, you need economics classes though

Will you be needing financial aid? That will impact where you go.

it was not possible to take any econ classes in my first quarter because they did not allow us to take, but this quarter i will be taking an econ class, and i will take another econ class in my spring quarter. I am planning to explain this situation to the schools i will be applying. And I will not apply for any financial aid because I heard that it gets harder to get in like that.
