I am currently studying engineering at a Midwestern state u. with a GPA of 2.9. I would really like to study at a business school, but my GPA precludes me from transferring to another four year school directly. The reason for my low GPA is that I started off studying a field of engineering I did not like and then switched into a different one, which was better but didn't really improve my performance.

I have taken a few business courses at my school and have done very well (A- & A).

My plan is to enroll in a CC in the Bay Area and collect enough units there to transfer out as a CA CC transfer and apply to Berkeley Haas, as well as other UC schools. I was also considering applying to Stanford (not for business), Northwestern, Duke, Wharton, and other top schools. I spent a summer in Berkeley as a visiting student and I am fairly familiar with the school's character and atmosphere. I generally like the Bay Area and think it will be a great change of setting.

My GPA at the end of this semester will be a little above 3.0, and I am working toward my semester GPA being between 3.7-4.0. I worked through many personal issues I have had previously, and my academic performance at the CC should be top notch (4.0 or close to that). I am really passionate about studying business, I have EC's that reflect that, and I will build up similar EC's in the CC.

Are my plans realistic? I know I may not necessarily stand a big chance on the Wharton, Stanford, etc apps; but as a CA CC applicant, I should have an advantage for getting into Haas, which is my top choice anyway.
