title says it all. I'm looking to transfer to ASU from a CC, more specifically W.P carey school of business as an undergraduate accounting major this spring (im out of state: California). My GPA right now is at a 2.7, due to some laziness during my sophomore year. The requirements for a business transfer state a 3.0 transfer GPA along with some other things. I fulfill all the requirements except for the 3.0 transfer GPA.

Even though its clean and clear that I most likely wont get in based on the requirements, have there been any others that have gotten into the undergrad program without a 3.0?

After this fall semester, I can apply for academic renewal at my campus, which would forgive 2 of the low grades I got during my sophomore year. I calculated my estimated gpa using the UCTAP and it came out to 3.1 if I choose to use the academic renewal and get a 3.5 this fall semester. Would that change my chances of getting in possibly in summer 2013? I mean the "F" stays on the transcript, but it doesnt affect the GPA anymore.

All comments and feedback are appreciated, just trying to figure out exactly what I should do.

Thanks for the link and input. I know their admittance rate is very high, but im wondering if theyre specifically going to admit me for business during this term. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get accepted into the university as a psychology major as this was my second choice.

The reason i ask if anyone has gotten into the B-school without a 3.0 is because I’m trying to transfer and graduate asap. Now i may still get into asu, but if im not a business major, ill have to take a certain amount of units to change majors. Now those units arent cheap considering ill be an out of state resident.

Basically, im just asking if anyone got into the B-school without a 3.0, because if i dont get into asu business in the spring, most likely im going to apply to the cal state system this coming fall and hopefully transfer for fall 2013. The reason im looking into asu in the first place is because I’ll get a head start and be able to start coursework in spring 2013.

Sorry for the lengthy read

Hi witter17,

I was wondering if you got into the business school? I’m also trying to transfer out of state (California) and my gpa is a 2.64. Any feedback would be helpful!

thanks

hey sorry for the late reply. I didn’t get into WP Carey at the time, and I got into my second major which was Econ at the Liberal Arts school. I chose not to attend because after talking with some counselors, they explained that it WAS possible to transfer from the Liberal Arts school to WP Carey, but very difficult to do so. I think if you don’t have a 3.0 from the school youre transferring from, you go through a portfolio process in which WP Carey reviews the work you’ve done at ASU already (which is like minimum 30 units @ ASU)

So you basically have to take 1 year of classes at ASU, which aren’t related to business because youre not allowed to take the upper division business classes. Then after that year, the WP Carey school reviews your portfolio, which isn’t even guaranteed admission into WP Carey. Pile that 1 year in with out of state tuition costs plus living expenses and I figured its not worth it. Paying 1 year of tuition plus living costs all for a CHANCE to get into the business school didn’t seem worth it. You’re better off applying to a local cal state, or applying to ASU at a later time and seeing if you actually get into the business school.

The trick is they’ll admit you, but not for your major.
