anybody know anything about transferring to American?

what do u want to know?

is it hard to get in? whats life at American like?

two very broad questions... if u have a 1.0 gpa, then yes it will be hard to get in. Be more specific.

Life at AU is AMAZING. The social life is great, the profs are talaneted, and the people are really really nice (ie: me!!!)

plus u have DC is your backyard, yet unlike g-town and GW there is still a nice campus & community.

feel free to ask me here of PM me w/ anyother questions...

is there anything that you dislike about AU?

haha no... i am slighly obsessed w/ my college... just every so slightly...

somethings that i know others don't like:
$$$ costs a lot of money to go here...
people are VERY much so into politcs... if u don't like politcs... or you don't care about governmental affairs.. don't go here
there is like a 60/40 split between females to males (although most of my friends are guys... strange)... if your coming from like an all girls school... and u want a college with LOTS of guy... don't go here...
its not in the "heart" of the city persay... like u have to take a shuttle ride (free btw) and hop on a metro... in order to get into the heart of DC... if u want to be in a place w/ no campus... and you hear cars pass by your dorm... don't go here...

idk.... i mean there is other stuff... if u tell me more about your likes/ dislikes... and what your looking for in a college... ask... and i can gauge my responses better...

I'm currently at a large state school...definately not an all female school...I actually applied to American as a frosh applicant two years ago but I dont remember much...

Whats the dating scene like @ American?

That's actually kinda interesting. Now that I'm actually in I'm currious to see what kind of people are at American. When I did research on American I used flickr.

Check out all the interesting people. Hopefully you should get an idea of what American's like...I think.

..or u could just ask me... seeing as i live here!!!

AU is great.... people date... a lot of my friends have relationships... but yet again its college... some people... (oh totalty not me... okay so maybe a little) like to get drunk and hook up w/ guys... other perfer then relationship route... its all up 2 u... and AU has all forms of dating... gay, straight, bi, hook ups, serious relationships... open relations... much like everyother college campus... again once u get to a pt where it doesn't really matter what college u go 2... you aren't going to have much of a dating/ social life if u stay in your dorm room all day/ night...

anyway hope that helps...

Actually the more I read about American, the more I'm liking it. I'm glad that people are into politics and from what I can tell people like to venture off into the city.

Neat.

How often do you go into DC?

...well i live in dc...so i'm there 24/7 :-D

do u mean heart of dc? well i like shopping... i go to g-town gto shop once every 2 weeks... i like to go clubbin' usually like twice a month (plus its FREE in DC... that is if u get there befiore 11 (some places eevn 11:30) ... so we get there at like 10:55 or like 11:25... then yeah... its cool... and were're there when everyone is like there...

the monuments are always cool as well... go to them at times (when like friends come to visit)

like in total (well again it depends where in the heart of dc u want to go) it takes about 25 mins... (5 min shuttle ride... 20 min on the metro) to get into heart of dc...

hope that helps :)

yeah it does!!! Thanks for all your help....
Do you know anything about transfer admissions? Like typical stats to get in? What are the dorms like?

According to College Board (I don't know what year), the total number of transfer students who applied was 1,477, and of those, 1,015 were admitted. That's about a 69% admittance rate for transfers. Transfer admissions requirements for AU can be found at: http://admissions.american.edu/public/contentPage/contentPage.asp?navID=132&parId=305&childId=2984&docID=2867
Admitted transfer stats according to AU can be found at: http://admissions.american.edu/public/contentPage/contentPage.asp?navID=132&parId=305&childId=2984&gchildId=3043&docID=2943
