Transferring to Become an OWL!!!

How hard is it to transfer to Rice? Right now, I'm a senior in High school, but Rice has been my dream school for so long, but I got rejected Interim decision. I have a 2080 Composite SAT, but I'm pretty sure I can do better, 30 ACT and decent XC's. What do i need to get as a College GPA to have a GREAT shot at transferring?

Can I transfer for the Spring '07 semester, or do I have to wait until Fall '07?

GREAT shot = 4.0. you have to wait until fall because you apply in january with RD i believe. you will only have grades for 1 semester when you apply, so just do well.

you'll need to apply for the fall (you need 9 credit hours earned in college to be considered a transfer). and, transfer students apply in march (not with the RD freshmen pool). I got in transfer with a 3.75, and while GPA is very important, there are A LOT of other factors in the application process than GPA.

should i retake my SAT;s??/ I have a 2080, and a 30 on ACT. I'd rather take my ACT again, mainly b/c Rice'll only see w/e score i want them to see

They keep scores from previous applications on file, so that does not matter.

try your best with grades and scores, but with a small school like rice its really important to establish contact with them and keep it going. . . depending on how close you live it might be easy or difficult, but try to visit, interview, get tours from someone high up in the dept. you want, etc. im from the northeast so travel money was an issue, but i took a chance to go out and interview in december and my interviewer basically told me i wouldn't have gotten in if I hadn't come down.

i have a very close friend that will try to transfer from UT after her first year to rice. can you guys post your stats so i can help her have a better chance? i would really appreciate it
