Transferring to Berkeley

I'm a senior at UCI and I really want to change my major and transfer to Berkeley. I just transferred here from a CC and I have 17 courses to take to finish my major, which means if I push it I can finish by the end of next summer. However, I really really REALLY want to transfer to Berkeley and change my major to Political Economy of Industrial Societies, which they do not have here at UCI. I called and talked to Admissions, and I got a really rude lady who wasn't at all helpful or willing to answer my questions or anything. She just said "we don't accept seniors" and practically hung up on me. However, somewhere on the ucop.edu website I remember reading that they do accept seniors, so I don't know who to believe. Do you think if I explain on my application why I want to change majors and show that I have a great transfer and that I'm really sincere and don't just want to transfer just for its own sake, that Berkeley will accept me a transfer student? If I think I have a chance of transferring I won't take too many units so I don't overload. RIght now I have 148 quarter units.

They accept senior transfers, but they are extremely rare.

Anyone? Anyone else? Give me some hope people, please!

Why would you want out of UCI? Its an awesome school.

how about you finish up at uci and then go get your masters at berkeley?

Whats wrong with UCI?

Nothing's wrong with UCI, I just really want to change my major, and they don't have what I want here... Berkeley was my first choice when I applied to all the UC's last year and I didn't get in, so I want to try again. Plus, it's just a academically a stronger school all around.

UC is really really strict about senior transfers (as the admissions chick so eloquently asserted), especially if youve already transferred in and want to do a uc-uc transfer. It sucks, but I have to agree with the previous suggestion about finishing up and trying for Berkeley for grad school.

Sorry to be a downer, but Ive just never heard of it happening. If you want to try it and apply, totally go ahead. Just go into it knowing the chances.

yeah it prob. would be a waste of a good $55.

Bumpity, bump bump.
