Hello, I am currently a freshman at SUNY Buffalo. Initially, I attended Buffalo to study Pharmacy but I've changed majors and now I would like to transfer to Binghamton as a Computer science major.

Which part of the application has the most influence on the decision of whether or not I will be accepted?
My HS grades weren't so great,
89.8 unweighted, rank 86 out of 450
1840/2400 SAT 1240/1600
580 CR, 660 M, 600 WR

1st semester in Buffalo, 3.51 GPA. completed 18credits
Now taking 14 credits 2nd semester.

Do you have extracurriculars or involvement or whatever at Buffalo? If so I think you should emphasize that in the essay because it seems like one of the most important things they’re looking for. Also I’d (obviously) focus on doing really well this semester. Your SAT is a little low but I really don’t think they look at that too much.

Thanks for the response!
Yup, I am constantly involved in multiple club events and meetings.

How will the 2nd semester grades influence the decision if deadline is March 1st but mid-term isn’t until after that date.

I don’t know if I’m making a smart move. I am a computer science major at Buffalo but I dropped some of the required courses so I can take classes with transferrable credits. If I get rejected from Binghamton then I will have to stay at buffalo for an extra semester to catch up with the curriculum. Right now, all of 2nd semester classes are transferrable but they are fulfilling an already fulfilled General Ed Requirement at Buffalo. In other words, these class credits are useless at Buffalo. If I successfully transfer to Binghamton then all those classes fulfilled almost a third of Binghamton’s General Ed Requirements.
