Hi-
I am currently a freshman and I want to transfer to Boston University more than anything! My high school grades were terrible. I had an 1120 SAT and 2.4gpa. I found out the beginning of senior year that I had a learning disability and was able to get help so my grades when I was a senior went way up. Now in college I am doing very well. I have a 3.6 gpa, on the dean's list, and in the honors college(was invited to join). I am an intern at an accounting firm and will be interning this summer at one of the largest financial institustions in the world. I have very good extra curriculars from high school but in college all I have done is intern at the accounting firm and volunteer at a soupkitchen twice a month. I am a business major but I will most likley apply to arts and sciences. Do I have any chance of getting in? Do you have any tips that may help me? I have to mail the application in about 2-3 weeks, is there anything I can do to improve my chances of getting in? I want to go more than anythingg!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
thanks!!

Unless you apply for junior standing, I don't think your chances are very good. One semester of strong grades just won't outweigh four years of high school. If BU is the place you want to be, I would recommend you wait to apply until next time this year. It will really make you a much more competitive applicant, as well as give you time to stregnthen your ECs and known whether or not transferring is best for you.

Best of luck :)

I took all honors and AP classes in highschool, even though I did not do well I always tried and worked so hard....I am at Hofstra University now and I cannot stay for another semester, I want to go to BU so badly and I will not settle for another school. I have more EC's that I forgot about...Im not really worried about that. Im just nervous about my high school grades impact on an acceptance. Do you think an essay explaining the situation about a learning disability effecting my HS grades will help?

1 semester is cutting it short. and yes, ur high school grades will impact your admissions decision. and about an essay? you probably didn't even start the BU essays and there are a couple to write.

your best bet is going in as a junior. keep that college gpa at 3.5 or higher to negate the high school record a bit more.
