Is it feasible? I have a crummy high school record, but I scored a 31 ACT Composite, with 34's in both reading and writing (I'm an English/Chinese double major). I will also have four semesters of college work by the fall of 2012 (junior status) and a 4.0 cumulative GPA. However, I look at Brown's selectivity and ask myself: even though I've shown enormous improvement since high school, are the stacked odds even worth the application fee? I'm already applying to six other schools, totaling over $300 in application fees, and money is tight.

We can’t comment without understanding ECs. Everyone applying will have a strong GPA and in range SAT/ACT. After that it’s really about what you’ll bring to the campus. Also, where did you achieve the 4.0?

Are you planning to apply for FA? B has need-aware admissions and limited FA for transfers:

Particularly as a junior transfer your high school grades are fairly inconsequential, though so are your ACT scores. It’s really your college GPA that matters at that point along with extracurricular activities and professor recommendations. Although I did have a bunch of AP’s, I still had a fairly low unweighted GPA (I think somewhere around 3.3 or 3.4, 3.8 with weights added). I got in as a Sophomore transfer, so in theory getting in as a Junior transfer should be possible with a weak high school record. That said, Waverly is right, and more information about you outside of the classroom is needed before an intelligent judgment can be made. Incidentally, if admission fees are an issue, a lot of schools have fee waivers; are you eligible for those, and have you considered them?

Thank you very much, entomom. I will definitely not apply now that I know they are need-aware for transfers.
