Transferring to Brown

Hi,

I just finished my freshmen year at the University of Michigan and am thinking about applying as a junior transfer student to a few universities.

I was just wondering what the average GPA for an admitted transfer student at Brown was. If any of you guys could let me know that would be great.

Thanks!

I doubt anyone here knows.

From collegeboard’s admission rate numbers you can infer that the average GPA is very high.
Transfer Students

* Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 972

 • Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 117
 • Number of transfers who enrolled for fall term: 76
 • Terms in which transfers may enroll: Fall, Spring
 • Transfers accepted at these levels: Sophomore, junior

The number of accepted students varies from year to year, but is always small.

i was assuming most people knew their GPA had to be high to get into Brown

Why do you wish to leave UMich?

It’s more why I want to go to Brown then leave Michigan. But I must say I have been slightly disappointed with the level of instruction at Ann Arbor and the quality of classes. Perhaps it is because I have mostly took intro courses but that is why I point out that it is more about me wanting to go to Brown than wanting to leave Michigan.

I wish you the best of luck.

Do transfer students’ “Level of interest” still matter? Just wondering…

no idea, i just sent my application and got a letter back saying they wanted me. end story.

btw the person who runs the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology, Sue Alcock, went to UMich and tells a story about how her ringtone is their fight song which went off at a Brown event with the suits once. Great professor if you get a chance.
