Transferring to California?!

I’m looking into transferring to basically any southern California school in either Spring or Fall 2016. I’m from the east coast so I would be out of state. I would love if you all could recommend some schools for me based off of my stats. Also I’m currently a sophomore.
Current GPA: 2.73 (My GPA after this fall will be about a 3.3 due to the classes I’m taking this semester)
I will also be switching majors after transfer and have a very good reason for such a low GPA freshman year.
College Activities: Pi Beta Phi Sorority, participated in a public policy challenge on campus and got 2nd place, intramural soccer, volunteer work, nanny
High School Activities: Varsity soccer for 4 years, Competitive soccer for 5 years, AP/honors classes, over 250 hours community service, worked 25 hours per week Junior and Senior year, NAHS, NHS, ACT of 32, SAT(R+M) of 1220

What can your family afford? You would be paying out of state rates for the public Us.

Money really isn’t a factor for me.

In that case you may have to start at a CCC and then transfer to a 4 year school in another year.

Can you clarify? does this mean that your parents have told you that they’ll pay however much a school charges??

or, does that mean that you’ll just borrow whatever the school costs?

So they will see transcripts with a 3.3 you project before even taking your fall classes? urmmm.

What major are you switching to and do you have the prereqs for that or will you be looking at more years of school because of lack of prereqs. You can look at the CSU’s in So Cal but you have to have the preparation. Otherwise the question to start at a CCC is a good idea.

CSU Fullerton, San Bernardino, San Marcos, San Diego, Long Beach, Channel Islands, Los Angeles, Dominguez Hills and Cal Poly Pomona are all in So Cal. Varying selectivity. Check the CSU Mentor for transfer advice. They are mostly geared for transfer from a CCC.

Some colleges to look at: Univ of Redlands, Whittier, Azusa Pacific, Point Loma Nazarene, Calif Baptist…

Most 4 yr schools in CA only accept Jr level transfers (60 semester units) and only consider applcants for Fall admission. Since your transfer app for Fall 16 will be due in November, your current term grades won’t be available so, they will be looking at your 2.7 - which is not going to get you into many places.

If you have a really fat wallet and are just dying to get to CA, go to a CC here and sort it out after you arrive. Plan to spend a year or more at the CC as you work to make your GPA competitive and take the required classes. Also, plan to pay OOS fees until you graduate.

Good luck.
