transferring to Columbia (please help)

dude u need to chill out

Congratulations ilovecalifornia, you have won the award for having your head further up your ass than any other human being I have ever met. Give me your address, and I'll put the certificate in the mail.

Keep up the good work.

"but you should realize that people who leave high school with 2.0's are just as capable of getting 4.0's in college as anyone else. my 'low' 3.1 gpa wasn't a lack of discipline."

There are exceptions to every rule, but people who do poorly in HS aren't as smart, driven, motivated, etc. as people who do well in HS. If you had to place a bet on someone's college potential, you'd be stupid to pick the 4.0 HS student over the 2.5 HS student.

"i attend one of the best public schools in california. Getting good grades at my school is just time consuming because any idiot can do well in high school, its a matter of how long they can tolerate busywork = ) and i can't have any patiences with wasting my youth just constantly stressing over gpas, tests, admissions, etc etc"

I guess you aren't all that smart. There are a number of people who get 4.0's in high school because they're brilliant individuals who can do exceptional without putting in the effort. If you can't take the stress of a Geometry or World History test, you're probably not the sharpest pencil in the box.

"i made the choice of attending a CC bc it makes sense to save money and not waste it all just for the sake of being able to say 'hey i got into X school as freshman! aren't i cool!?'"

Yep, the choice of being able to say "hey, I live in my parents' basement and work at McDonalds and I'm 27" is very cool.

"face it. you threw away your family's money"

"call me in 10 years and tell me where you ended up with your amazing degree from X school, still paying off your debt"

You're just not too bright. Why would I be paying debt 10 years later if my rich family wasted money paying for Columbia? I don't get it. Can you please explain. I'm struggling here.

so going to community college, means you will live in your parents basement and work at mcdonalds.......thats so off, what the **** are you talking about? do you live under a rock? i'm not even going to bother with you. your obvoiusly not the brightest crayon in the box either if you think your grades make you better than me. get over yourself.

If I can't take the stress of GEO or world history tests????? wf.
do you have any idea why my GPA is low? no, you don't, so don't make ** up.

'Can you please explain. I'm struggling here.'

yea u would struggle to understand anything unacademic, wouldn't you columbia? and by the way, you haven't met me dmbass. its sad that you think our interaction online translates into 'meeting me'. you don't know ** about me, yet you are comfortable with predicting and limiting my abilities and potential in CC and beyond. thanks assh*le, your just the kind of student who SHOULDN'T be on these sort of forums advicing people...

so basically, I've done more in my life so far, than you will ever accomplish. Yes, you love trying to feel superior to me, so Im just going to have to shut you down and prove how meaningless your life is compared to mine. I'll show you why your 'outstanding gpa' can't hold a candle to my level of experience in the real world.

while you were riding your bike around your suburban neighborhood as a child, I was travelling to South Africa, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Iran, India, Peru, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, and Turkey. While you put your life into Acing some AP language class in HS, I was out there getting real experience and practice. I speak three languages fluently and I have taught English in Mexico and Iran (3 months each country).

You scrambled to exagerrate your extracurricular activities to put on your college application, but I've won numerous awards in travel photography and had my photographs featured in dozens of photography magazines.

I define passion and strength. Your a follower, I'm a leader. Just get over these facts, and get on with the rest of the pathetic life by utilizing the few skills and capabilities you have. Im better than you. deal with it. I'd think you have better things to do in college than to sit behind the computer and try to discourage a high school student from exploring options. i came in here wondering what my chances were at columbia. i got my answer. you didn't need to come in here and be a dick about my gpa/test scores/potential.
