Transferring to Computer Engineering- Finished Undergrad in Bio.

Hi all. I finished my Undergrad at SUNY Albany with a major in Bio, Minor in Poly Sci.
Overall GPA was a 3.41
My major GPA was ~3.64, but I'd say 3.6 to be safe.

I really do not want to go to medical school, and my real desire is to transfer to a school to major in Computer Engineering/Computer Science (I know these two are the area in which I want to study, with the difference being if I want to focus on hardware or software).

I've taken every pre-req for medical school, however to get into medical school id probably have to do a grad program and i also lack the passion for being a doctor to begin with.

my goal is to transfer to a UC school including

1.University of California—San Diego (Jacobs)
2.University of California—Santa Barbara
3.University of California—Irvine (Samueli)
4.University of California—Davis
5.University of California—Riverside (Bourns)
6.University of California—Santa Cruz (Baskin)

and id realistically like to gauge my chances. I spoke to the admissions at RPI (New York) and they told me very realistically I could enter their school in the fall with no problem. the man just asked me if I really wanted to go ahead and do this again for 2-3 years potentially. im 22 now, but i feel like this would pay off for me in the end.

I feel like I can get into SUNY schools provided i take some prereqs, however, my personal preference is to really leave new york. in this regard, i am a bit naive, but it is a very strong preference of mine at the moment. i wouldnt hold out the possibility of going to a stony brook, or a binghamton, or a suny buffalo type school.

I’d say about ~0% chance at a UC. Try looking into schools that aren’t impacted and actually have room for second baccalaureate students.

thanks for that input! i couldnt find the info for the 2nd Bachelor’s so I’m very glad you found that for me. I looked at USC-Viterbi, Santa Clara, but haven’t found a bunch of other schools in California besides them and the UC schools. its such a shame i cant really apply to the UC schools.

I guess in this case, however, I probably will apply to other schools across the US and see if they offer 2nd bachelor’s, or stay local within New York.

Your best bet is probably to study right in your home state. There is no aid other than federal loans for second bachelors degrees. Take a good long look at which classes you can get out of the way on the cheap at the closest community college.
