So, I went to Syracuse University my freshman and had a 3.375 cumulative after 2 semesters (3.5 in fall, 3.25 in spring). I studied public health, but i avoided hardcore sciences (like i avoided chem, bio, etc.). I know my gpa was terrible but my grandmother, cousin (and role model who inspired me to pursue public health), and boyfriend of three years all died within 3 months of each other while i was at SU… so maybe the admissions office will be a little less harsh due to this?
This year - sophomore year - i am in community college taking art and art history classes. I have a 4.0 GPA while taking 19-21 credits per semester. Also (i don’t know if this helps at all) 2 of my great grandfathers, my grandpa, and my uncle all went to cornell.
I volunteer at SF MoMA 3x a week right now, and while at SU i was on the sailing team and was in a public health outreach club-type thing. In addition, i volunteered with a health organization on campus 2nd semester.
My high school GPA was a 3.43 and SAT was 1630 (terrible I know).
So do I have a shot at transferring to Cornell?
Oops forgot to mention i’m applying for art history
I would really appreciate some insight or other transfers’ stats or anything to give me an idea of my chances
TBH, both gpa and standardized test scores are low, so it will definitely be difficult to get in
Do they really consider high school gpa and sats that much for transfers though?
Why Cornell other than it being an ivy League school?
They have an amazing art history program, i thrive in smaller class settings, the alumni connections, i like to be challenged and i know cornell will be one. and also honestly it would be nice to only be an hour from my friends at syracuse haha
Did you check out Ithaca college as a back up?
