I am a freshman at the University of Rochester this year. My goal is to transfer to Cornell in the fall of 2011. I was hoping to get some guidance as to what I need to do to accomplish this goal, hopefully from some students who have transferred to Cornell or even some people from admissions.

I was 11th in a class of 315 in high school. I got a 1300/1600 on my SAT. I was heavily involved in rowing, NHS, and student council in high school. I held leadership roles on my school's Math Honor Society and on the Steering Committee of 2010. My grandfather is a graduate from the Cornell's Hotel School. I did not apply ED to Cornell because I wanted to keep my options open, as I received various rowing scholarships to other universities.

I am undecided in major right now but know that I want to apply to Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences.

What does my GPA need to be to achieve this goal? I know as close to a 4.0 would be ideal but what is the minimum they will accept? Should I retake my SAT? Are SAT scores really a big factor in the transfer admission process? Should I be taking certain courses right now to prepare for Cornell just in case? Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of being accepted? I am planning on joining various clubs at school this year. To sum this all up, what do I need to do to make it so Cornell cannot refuse me?
