I used to be in a 4 year university for one year, did terribly because of my own irresponsibility, and transferred to a community college. I am hoping to transfer to CPP next fall, with 60+ credits done at the community college. My GPA from the community college when applying should be around a 3.3-3.4, but I also have credits/gpa hours from the first university that I went to (which would bring down my gpa by a lot, probably around a 2.3). Would CPP count the grades from the first university for my gpa when I apply for transfer? How negatively would it affect my chances?
All of your credits with a passing grade will be transferable, it doesn’t matter where they are from. The only way they will not count towards your gpa is if you retake them in CC and get a better grade. For example if you took math 100 at the 4 year university and got an F(or a D), then you retook the class in CC and got an A(or any passing grade) then the one at the 4 year university doesn’t count towards your gpa. As for your chances of getting in; it all depends on the major, units completed, where you are transferring from and gpa.
