Transferring to Georgetown (MSB)

Well, I'm a senior about to go off to college and just realized I wanted to go into business and regret applying to GW instead of Georgetown.

My questions is: for transferring at the end of Freshmen year, which one of the schools I am thinking about going to will hold more weight?

Options: Pitt Honors (possibly a full ride, very enticing), GW Honors (15k scholarship), or UNC

No matter where I go I plan to have a 3.8+ GPA and I was able to get into the likes of NYU and Emory this year and I got a 2130 on the SAT.

So, would going to UNC improve my bets of getting into McDonough with possibly a "scholarship?"

Thanks in advance!

Why wouldn't you go to UNC and go to Kenan Flagler?

Because I love DC and would love to be in a city environment. Granted I have not visited Chapel Hill yet, I just know that I would want to have an urban experience in college.

I think UNC would give you the best shot, not to mention the fact that Kenan-Flagler is as good if not better than McDonough for undergrad business. Chapel Hill is however definitely not a city environment.

Go to Pitt? (Which school is this exactly?) There is absolutely no reason why you should throw out the possibility of a full ride. Period. That and the fact if you are so dead bent on transferring, just milk it. I know it doesn't sound right, but I truly do recommend this. From there you would be able to make the transition to a bschool of your choice. Also keep in mind your might fall in love with that school and decide not to transfer. Fields such as computer science, economics, and anything quantitative is valued in the business field (unless you're going concrete like marketing or accounting).

If money isn't a problem, GW can work for you as well. In the event you don't get into Georgetown, you can always find yourself living in the urban environment. Don't rob yourself of something you want just for the future. You seem highly intelligent and I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to transfer into Georgetown. That and the fact that the same firms that recruit at Georgetown also recruit at GW.

Go with UNC. You'll have your whole life to live in the city.

An academic scholarship at Georgetown is very very tough... I've met a few people with full-rides here and let me tell you, they are insane... this one girl is researching cancer and running her own labs and tests with the researchers...

I can tell you that tons of GW kids lateral to Gtown, I know quite a few...

yeah I think someone said like 75% of gtown transfers are from GW.

"yeah I think someone said like 75% of gtown transfers are from GW"

That is just completely untrue! There are a decent amount of transfer apps from GW but certainly no where near 75%

Thanks for all the help guys! If the full ride from the University of Pittsburgh pulls through then I will end up there, if not then I will go to UNC if the college town atmosphere doesn't bother me. I plan to go into Marketing so no extraneous courses or extra major for me.

sorry! that's how rumors get started. thanks for the correction

wait, why not nyu if you got in? i'm assuming gw gave you a better financial package?

Yeah, and I got GSPed at NYU for CAS and Stern doesn't accept transfer....or so I believe. I will have to verify this.
