Hey all, I'm considering applying for Harvard and Yale this year as a junior transfer. I have a 4.0 for my college GPA, and I think I can probably maintain that in the fall with some effort. However, my senior grades were horrendous. I got a D+ and an F in two math classes, though the rest were A's/B+'s. Ironically, I'm a math major now. Should I even bother applying?

its a bit late to be transfering now no? Anyways, given the competition, I doubt you’d get into to either

Open the Harvard transfer thread and read the stats of the applicants you would be pooled with, that would give you the idea of the competition. Despite having everything perfect and then some, none of these applicants have any certainty about an acceptance from either Harvard, Yale or any Ivy for that matter.

harvard and yale take so few transfers that i would not bother applying if you wouldn’t have been a competitive candidate for freshmen admissions. yale’s website actually says that, also. i do, however, see you being competitive for other good schools.

Thanks all for your input! I was just wondering if applying was even worth the effort. The school I currently attend is a pretty good school–it just simply isn’t HY ;)

Go to Michelle Hernandez and you’ll have an 80% chance of getting in :p

rofl

but yeah theres like what… 15 spots per year for harvard transfers? Something ridiculous like that. Good luck…

Remember that these schools look for intelligence. What I think a lot of people nowadays forget is that intelligence is not measured solely in ones grades. So what I would say is go for it Grades are only one component of a person, and admission officers know that there is more to a person than a letter.
