transferring to harvard

Hey guys,
I'm gonna be a freshman at UCI this fall, and based on my interactions with my classmates, my professors, and the lifestyle in general, i don't think this is the place for me. I consider myself a fairly intellectual person, it's just that I am overwhelmingly lazy, and this has essentially screwed me over in high school, where I had a 3.2 GPA( i did take the maximum courseload possible), a 2200 SAT I and 630/730/800 bio/ushistory/math ii scores. Towards the end of my senior year, I really began to understand how much I had ****ed myself over (with several admissions letters of rejection in front of me) and I feel I am quite determined to prove to myself that I am capable of succeeding. I've been doing some introspection of my wants and needs in my undergraduate education, and I feel that UCI cannot provide my desires. Ideally I'd like to create my own concentration, one that focuses on biology (neurology specifically) and middle eastern studies. UCI does not provide any classes for the latter. I'd like to transfer next year, and Harvard is my top choice. My question is, do I even stand a chance? my high school ECs were mediocre, where I was only in Debate and Academic Superbowl and was captain of the former. I'd be willing to retake my SAT scores, and unlike last time, I will make every effort to write an excellent essay, perhaps focusing in on my experiences after my several admissions rejections. I plan on getting some research opportunities first quarter, and I feel reasonably confident of a 4.0. What do you guys think?

bump........?

Come back in January when you've spent a full term at UCI, and you have both that experience and actual grades to work with. Spend your first term working your butt off academically AND trying to make friends/find a niche at UCI.

heh yeah i think i've really convinced myself that i need to work my butt off, but thanks for the advice. anyone else have any other input to provide?

Its one thing to say 4.0, and then another to get 4.0. Realize that even with a 4.0, you're chances are still very slim. It is HARVARD. However, if that is what your motivation is to do well in school, that's fine, even if you don't get in, you'll still have worked hard and have the grades to prove it.

Don't go!!!

Don't waste your time at a school you don't like.

Most people thinking three steps ahead usually mess up the first step.

imran, you are in need of a reality check. read ryan's post on this thread:

the end of ryan's post is right on target. your chances are about 8% at harvard and you're going to need to be VERY special to get in (about 80 out of 1000 transfer applicants get in). you need to be realistic about transfer admissions.
