Transferring to Marquette University?

My high school grades were sub-par, and I graduated with a 2.5 GPA. My ECs were excellent, ACT score average, and the school was a private, college-prep institution.

Anyway, I am currently a second semester freshman at a public university in Wisconsin (UW-Milwaukee). My GPA last semester was a 3.47. This semester I'm taking a few more courses than I did last semester, and I am 100% positive my GPA will increase.

I am involved in Women in Business club (I'm a business major), probably joining a sorority, I work part-time, and I volunteer regularly.

Concerns: I withdrew from an extra English course last semester due to schedule conflicts.

So...

Withdrawing from a course in college should not be a concern.

I didn’t know if it was looked down upon or not.

Also, my high grades weren’t so good. Not sure if that is important, but I know MU wants them sent it with college transcripts.

The only time a withdrawal might be looked down on would be if it was done after the allowed period and in most instances that would end up as an incomplete. In that circumstance then an explanation might be necessary. Regarding transcripts that might work in your favor since it would seem your high school GPA is lower than your current college GPA. If that is the case they would interpret the change as a positive adjustment.

Yes, that’s true. Hopefully they look at it in that way.
