Transferring to Miami? Just a few questions.

Hello all.

I was just recently admitted to transfer to Miami in the coming fall. By just recently, I mean as in that I found out online three days ago and have yet to receive my admitted student packet! I applied for Finance within Farmer, but listed Economics as my second choice should I not get direct-admisson to the business school. Other schools I applied to include Purdue University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Texas Christian University (TCU), and Eastern Illinois University (EIU). However, I am holding out for acceptance to Farmer to seal the deal. After visiting again for "Transfer Preview Day," I am pretty set on Miami even if I don't receive direct admission.

Either way, though, I have a few questions regarding the university. I am coming from Arizona State University's honors program, also as a Finance major, and it seems what Farmer offers business students is on par to the treatment the honors business students at ASU receive. I need no comparison. However, I want real-world figures/ballparks regarding post-grad life of Farmer students, specifically Finance majors. Is a degree from here as highly regarded as I have been told and if so, what types of jobs will I be looking at? Will I need to be digging for jobs, or is it well-enough connected that finding gainful post-graduation employment should not be a huge challenge?

Also, at Arizona State, I was heavily involved in my fraternity as well. However, the culture at ASU does not revolve around greek life at all. It is a relatively small portion of students when comparing to other schools. I know from others and have experienced myself that Miami's cultural vibe relies heavily on greek life. I want honest opinions here, but is this true? I am okay if this is the case, as I like it and am proud to be a member of the greek community. However, I was involved in (and held many other leadership positions within) other campus organizations that are outside of greek life, and this was perfectly normal as ASU's greek life is not very big. The question arises as I would like to join similar organizations at Miami. I know that I am capable of making my own decisions for my campus involvement, but how heavily are other greeks involved in other organizations? Would it be a waste of my time, or would I actually be taken seriously in these organizations?

Also, do we have any other transfers here that were also already greek prior to transferring? I would like to know your experiences. So far, it seems the transition will not be that difficult, but I would like to hear your experiences as well, as I know very few people who have transferred schools, let alone transferred chapters within their national fraternity. I know it isn't as uncommon as I have experienced, but I just do not know anybody personally who has done so to give me feedback.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I am counting down the days until I can officially call myself a Redhawk in August! Love and Honor!

Perhaps a search on LinkedIn will help you track down graduates/alumni you can correspond with.

On the site *****, at the bottom the school stats page is a link to linkedIn that gives you summary of where the alum are, their majors etc along woth you connections to them.
