I am currently a biology major at RPI who wants to major in neuroscience. I just finished my first year at RPI, but I was looking to transfer to NYU because there is no neuroscience major at RPI.

My gpa is not that great (3.25 cumulative), but it is hard to get a good gpa at rpi with the apparent grade deflation and I have been on dean's list for both semesters so far.

I was not heavily involved in many clubs my freshman year in college, but I intend to join more clubs my sophomore year at rpi before applying to transfer (possibly be vice president or some leadership position of the running/fitness club).

What are my chances of getting into NYU's cas for neuroscience if I apply for the 2012-2013 academic year (my junior year)?

HS stats:
1920 SAT (670 math, 610 critical reading, 640 writing)
Top 10% of my class
~4.1 gpa
Four years cross country and track with Coach's Award (given to one student every year)
Four years volunteer work with organizations like RISE and WSOP
National Honors Society, Language Honors Society
6 AP classes my senior year

At NYU's website, they say that the average gpa of students accepted for transfer to the college of arts and sciences at NYU is like a 3.7 which worries me. Is NYU too much of a reach, and do they take into consideration which college the applicants apply from?
