Transferring to NYU

Hi, I'm currently attending Florida International University and I'm about to complete my first year after this semester. My current cumulative gpa is 3.7 and I just got into an honor society. My high school gpa wasn't that good, unweighted 2.6 and weighted 3.4. I had some extracurricular activities. And my SAT scores were around the 500 mark. I was wondering if my high school transcripts would be considered for evaluation and if I have a good possibility of getting into NYU as of now. Any help would be great, thank you.

When applying to transfer as a soph, your HS record and test scores will be weighted more than what you have done in college since it is 4 vs. 1/2 yrs of work when applications are evaluated.

I have to disagree with entomom. My son’s experience was that the schools he applied to looked at his first and second semester grades and his recommendations much more than his high school records (which, in his case, was a very good thing). He was able to transfer as a sophomore and got into schools that he wouldn’t have had a prayer of getting into as a high school senior.

it depends on what NYU wants as a transfer and what school in NYU your applying to, generally most schools won’t weigh your HS GPA as much or at all after a full year of coursework/30 credits
