Transferring to NYU

Hi. I’m a California Community College student studying Political Science. I decided to go to a community college after high school because I knew I couldn’t get into any good colleges with my high school GPA. I had a 3.33 GPA in high school. But my grades really turned around once I got into community college. I took honors classes-I’m in the honors program- and managed to get a 3.87 GPA. I had all As and ONE C, which I am now starting to really stress over because I don’t know how exactly it would affect my chances. The C was in Honors Calculus 1. I have never been really good at math. At first I took the class to challenge myself, but looking bad it was a HUGE mistake. I THINK my extra curriculars are good. I’m President of the Honors Society, and before that I was Vice President. I’m the Vice President for External Affairs for my school’s student government. I also did internships with various small local law firms. I think when it comes time to apply, I’ll hire someone to help me with my personal essay so that it could be solid. I’m applying next year, as a junior standing. What would be my chances of getting into NYU. NYU has always been my dream school. I could really use some insight. Or what I should do now until the time I transfer to up my chances.

Someone please reply.

I think you have a solid shot to get into CAS. Your high school GPA, and possibly ACT/SAT1 may affect you, but due to your great grades in CC, they’ll probably take it that you’ve matured tremendously academically. I think the only thing you need to do now is work on your essay writing, since they take their admissions essays very seriously.
