I wanted to see how high of a chance I had to get into NYU before I applied. I want to transfer in as a first-semester Junior in Fall 2010. My major is Political Science.

I am currently a second-semester sophomore, with 52 credits. I have done mostly all of my Gen Ed requirements and what I haven't, I'm finishing this spring.

My stats:

College GPA: 4.0
High School GPA: 3.3 UNWEIGHTED
SAT: 1120/1600 (530 CR, 590 Math)
Adversity: Overcame a lot to get where I'm at
1st Generation college student
President Leadership Scholar
Dean's List
Community Service Organizer
1+ year of full-time work experience while in first year of college

My extracurriculars for this year though are none.

I've gone to school in Hawaii, and now TX. I had to move around with my family but I suppose I met a wide variety of types of people.

if you’re a junior, they will barely look at your HS record.

i transferred to NYU in spring '08. my roommate transferred to the same major as you, with a weaker GPA but stronger ECs. i would highly recommend doing SOMETHING next semester, particularly something politics related. i know it’s a lot to ask (i was working and playing a varsity sport at my old college) and if you can’t do it, it’s not a dealbreaker.

you have a very good chance, particularly because you seem so similar to other transfer students i’ve met here.

Transfer to NYU as Junior for Fall 2010
H.S. records so so, but still awarded 1/2 tuition scholarship grant.
Accepted at Honors College and Dean’s List for all (Hofstra) semesters to date.
Terrific recommendations (for transfer to NYU) from current College professors.
Application all in and done!

When will decision be out??

Can someone please comment on possibility for Financial Aid ??

I’m applying Fall 2010 as a junior. I’m an English major applying to the CAS. Right now I’m at a public school in New England with a 3.86 (from my first two semesters - waiting on grades for this semester - probably a 3.90) with 52 credit hours after this semester. My HS record was okay - 3.40 unweighted, having taken only honors and APs at a Catholic HS. I know I need to send my HS transcript, but should I also send SATs? Mine were pretty average - 1230/1600 and 1840/2400. Would not sending hurt me?

As for ECs, I’m kinda worried because I really only have one at school, but I’m really involved and passionate about it. I also work and play multiple instruments, so I guess those go as ECs too… but I’m just involved with this one organization at my school. So… would writing about this organization in my short answer for the com app make the lack of other activities less prominent?

Any input from someone going through the transfer process now or that has recently would be awesome!

^^^Posted for a friend - To date, she hasn’t gotten any information - still waiting - any/all financial aid is crucial to decision whether or not to transfer.
