Im currently a freshman at community college in California and was wondering if its even possible to transfer to osu next fall ('19) and how likely it would be. I currently have a 4.0 gpa and will have 34 units by the end of spring semester (June 13th). Is it harder for out-of-state students? and would be grades come out too late or would they just hold acceptance (if accepted) till my grades come out?
It shouldn’t be hard with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
I cannot answer the rest of your questions other than to say in the recent past Ohio State has offered a lot of scholarships to out-of-state freshmen applicants.
THIS IS CRAZY. You are in the exact same position as me!!! I’m currently in community college in California with a 4.0 gpa as well. The only difference is that I will end with around 60 units by the end of the spring semester and I am a sophomore. I know that the deadline for admissions is in June for transferring to their autumn semester of 2019. I just sent in my final transcript today! Hoping I get in!!!
Oh you’ll definitely get in. I called them yesterday and they told me as long as I have 30 units (otherwise a HS transcript w it), and a good gpa I should have a chance. If you have a 4.0 and 60 credits you’ll definitely be getting in!
Im sure that if I get in then you will get in as well and vis versa. I heard that they like to take transfers as soon as possible so that you get to ohio state sooner!
I hope so! Have you already sent in your app?
Yes! It is currently being evaluated! Im crossing my fingers!!! I just got back from a trip to Columbus to visit the campus!!! I feel in love with the campus!
You’ll definitely get in! Yes, the campus is so nice, I love it as well
Hey! Did you get a response back from admissions yet?
I have not! I hear that it take around 4-6 weeks however but many people have heard within 2-4 weeks. My application was officially changed to evaluated on the 9th of January. Hopefully i hear back this week or the next! really excited to see the result! And you?
Just got accepted!!!
Omg thats great!! Congrats! My app hasn’t even been evaluated yet and I submitted it about 2 weeks ago, it still says its missing my hs transcript even though I sent it in
Thank you! My heart dropped! Did u send in your high school transcript electronically or through a letter? If it was electronically they usually send a confirmation saying that they received the transcript. I would always send an email to admissions just in case. Good luck!
I’m so happy for you!! I sent it by letter, I called them today and they said they just received it. Ugh I don’t want to wait another 1-2 weeks
Ya the wait is the worst part! I have friends here that want to transfer to UCs and Cal states and they won’t hear back until around march. So consider us lucky in a way! I heard back within less than 2 weeks. I think I am one of the lucky ones though because I’ve heard many people say that it takes 2-3 weeks and they considered that lucky. roughly 2 weeks seems to be the sweet spot. It’s worth the wait! Good luck to you!!!
Thank you!
If this eases you at all, I was admitted yesterday to the College of Engineering with a ~3.1 GPA.
Granted, I have really good grades in my upper-level math and physics courses. and I will be transferring as a junior.
Thanks and congrats! It does take some pressure off. I should be hearing back soon, figures crossed!
You got this! Tell me when you hear the results!!!
I was out of state student too. I’m from Colorado I had 3.9 community college GPA and I got accepted so u shouldnt worry that much OSU really like out of state students since we pay more I guess. Also even if u have 3.3 GPA u still can get in. Is way easier to get into OSU as transfer than fresh out of HS. If you want easier option is to go to columbus state community college for like a semester and u can easily transfer to OSU since they both work closely together
