I am currently a freshman in college at a 4 year institution and I have applied to Ohio State for the fall 2013 semester as a sophomore. I want to transfer to OSU extremely badly and will be devastated if I don’t get accepted (I’m very unhappy at my current University). The application materials are not due until March 1st, so I submitted my application in mid November to get it in as early as possible. I currently have a 2.74 GPA for first semester. I know this is low and i’m planning on getting it higher next semester before I would be entering a new schools. However, my high school grades were good. I was on the honor roll all of senior year and had a 3.2 GPA. I also had a 1080/1600 on my SAT (not the highest but not bad either). I am also out of state. OSU’s high acceptance rate for transfers is keeping my hopes up, but I am just worried about my college GPA and the fact that I am out of state. I know that they accept almost everyone, but what do you think my chances are? My essay on the application was very good as well.

PS: I was also involved in an incident where I was a victim of assault on my campus where the offender was arrested and charged and I was injured. I informed OSU of this as well since it definitely had an impact on my grades.

Hey everyone! I want to let you all know that I actually just got admitted to Ohio State today!! Freaky how that happened the next day… It only took OSU 2 days after receiving all my application materials to admit me. Hope everyone else hears back this quick!

Good to hear!

Im applying in the next couple of days too and Im hoping I’ll get in as well. I have a 2.7 gpa and 60 credit hours from a 4 year in florida but I hear its really easy to get in. Where did are you transferring from?

hey could you tell me what you had on your application. Cause I am applying for the autumn 2013 as a oos transfer from a community college. I have 28 credits completed with a 3.6 GPA and high school was a 2.01 and SAT was the same as your. I applied in mid-decmber and am still being evaluated. I wanted to know why they gave you a decision so fast and they haven’t for me and I applied before you. I talk to an admission counselor today and she told me they won’t start looking at transfer application until early feberary - march time. I really get the feeling they are not taking my application seriously or they just threw it out or something cause they are not telling me anything positive and make it seem I am not allowed to go to Ohio state. Which is really making me upset.

ohiostate136… I’m really sorry to hear that. I actually applied mid november, and sent in all the application materials in november as well. The only thing was that I had to wait until end of december to get my grades and GPA back from this semester of college. So they’ve had all of my application since November and was only waiting on the college grades. So I think this is why they gave me a notification so quickly since my transcript was all they were waiting for… Two days was a lot quicker than I would have ever expected, but I think they had already looked at my application before receiving my transcript so once they got it they probably just made the quick decision

However i think your college GPA is the most important factor in their decision and you should be a shoe-in with a 3.6, its been said that they pretty much accept those with above a 2.5 gpa.

Yes but I had sended them my application in the end of September and gave them my transcript in the middle of December. So it’s been more then the evaluation time frame and they still haven’t given me a decision at all. And I am losing my patience for a response.

Hey guys I was just curious what all you need to turn in with the transfer app? I sent my college transcript and ACT score in, do I need to send in a high school transcript too? I talked to an admissions lady who said I didn’t have to but i wanted to check if you guys did? I have a 3.75 with 15 credit hrs. Didn’t do so hot in high school, graduated with a 2.7 and got a 23 on the ACT so thats why I am curious?

hey dude! I’m in the exact situation as you. I had a really poor autumn semester schedule because it is so difficult so I think I might get a 2.75 GPA. Though, my high school grades were pretty good averaging a 4.2 GPA and 1800 SAT/26 ACT. I hope my one bad semester doesn’t ruin this application. It would be awesome to have some feedback thanks
