I'm thinking of trying to transfer to Penn, but I'm not sure who to get recommendations from. I have two from HS from my principal and science teacher, but should i use different ones since I'm in college now? I just started, but I figured asking for a recommendation of a professor now isn't too good of an idea considering I've only known them a month or so, but the HS ones are a year old (Don't know if that poses an issue). I'm a freshman at Lehigh University in the engineering program and i want to apply to the Penn Engineering program

You NEED to have two professor recommendations and one from your adviser. I know some schools like Stanford will allow TA recommendations, but I ended up asking professors. I think part of the reason they want professor recommendations is to see if you were engaged enough in class to have actually interacted with the professor. And if that was the case, they would be able to speak more to your intellect since they probably have years of experience working with students.

You only need two recommendations from current college professors. Here’s a link to the Penn transfer students FAQs. Look under “What are the application requirements?”

I transferred this year into Penn and I believe that it is best to get recommendations from your College Professors. I sent in two from HS and two from College. I know that it is more than they asked for but it seemed to work?

My best advice is to be sure to explain why Penn is your best (or only) option to transfer in your essay. I believe my essay got me in and I’ve heard the same thing from so many transfers! Good luck!
