Transferring to Private University SAT Questions

I have been toying with idea of going to Cal State Fullerton for their theatre program and possibly transferring out to school such as Vanderbilt or Reed College for theatre. I was thinking of transferring after 2 years at Cal State Fullerton so I can get a feel for theatre. It could change but I do enjoy the subject very much. So that means I would be transferring as a junior so I was wondering would I have to worry about my SAT and high school GPA? My high school GPA is 3.6ish for 10-12. My SAT for my gap year is 1290 (New SAT) and during high school was 1650 (Old SAT). Not stellar, I know. I have been keeping busy during my gap such as the SAT and acting workshops. So hypothetically if I do well (3.7 to 4.0) for two years at CSU Fullerton should I worry about my SAT and High school GPA?

I know the Community College route is cheaper but the cost will be almost negligible since there is a good chance I would commute. Also Cal State Fullerton has better acting program than most CCs.

If I’m getting this right, you’re asking if Vanderbilt will look at your SAT scores and high school GPA? If so: yes, according to their website, they ask for you to send in your SAT scores and high school transcripts. However, your college work and involvement is what they put more weight in when they examine your application, so that’s what you should focus on. You shouldn’t just get grades (aim closer to the 4.0 than to the 3.7) – try to get a job, volunteer, participate in extracurriculars, etc. They have more info on the transfer admissions website if you wanna read more about it, but that’s the gist of it.

Google Common Data Set and look at section D.

For Vanderbilt, my counselor told me that SAT score is required more as a formality and it’s not a big part of the review, what will matter most are your grades and coursework, your activities and your essay, telling us why you want to transfer.

Okay thank you! this helped me a lot! I am new so I don’t know how to @ you guys or something. But again thanks and also thanks for common data set information!! And yes I will strive for the 4.0 then.
