Transferring to Rutgers SAS

Hey guys! I just have a question about transferring to the SAS at New Brunswick. I am a Marketing major and hope to transfer to the Business school at New Brunswick. However, I am applying for the Spring semester which does not allow me to apply to the Business school. I was just wondering if I could continue my education as a Marketing major at the SAS. Thanks!

I’m sure you can as long as you apply for it. I’m in the same boat as you except I’m a microbio applicant.

yes you can

@scienceguy1
just wondering, have you submitted your application yet? I submitted mine like 2 weeks ago and I haven’t received another email that tells me my RUID. I checked my status also and it still hasn’t shown my status page. All it says is “by mid september, you will receive 9-digit RUID and be able to view your status online, etc.”

what about you?

Yeah I did and I submitted my srar yesterday, I have yet to receive anything from them I’m guessing it will take at least a couple more weeks

Yo bottlecap you live in nj right? How much does it cost to get to NYC from nb?

I normally drive to NYC but I once went on the academy bus from my house and stopped at port authority in NYC and it cost around 15 bucks one way. I think it would be cheaper if u go from new Brunswick. I believe u can also get on the train but I’m not sure how much that would cost

great thanks for the info!

i forgot to ask you. Were you able to pay your application fee?

One thing I was also wondering, when is the first acceptances sent out?

Yeah I did pay the application fee or at least I think so let me check my debit card bill

Well the website says that we should receive our decision no longer than december 1st. i believe that we should hear back sooner if our stats are good lol.

Are you applying anywhere else besides rutgers? Where are you from?

Lets hope so this wait is killing me. I applied to Rutgers NB- SEBS and SAS SAS for microbio as my first choice. I also applied to Stony Brook and Binghamton for Biochem Stony Brook is my 2nd choice behind Rutgers. And I also applied to New Paltz (these are suny incase you arent familiar) only if I extremely mess up, which I wont I just have high anxiety so I tend to go haywire lol. I will also be applyign to UCLA UCD and UCSB in Nov. I am from Southern Cali, white guy, also so that really didnt help for their flagship “diversity” at Rutgers.
Above all though the only two schools I’d really like to go to is Rutgers and UCLA. Rutgers first though because I don’t want to stay in California I want to experience something new.

Whats your major btw? I’m Microbiology/Pre-Med

Also where else did you apply?

I am coming from brookdale community college with an associate degree in chemistry but I will major in biological sciences at Rutgers(pre-dental). Have you completed any of your pre-med prerequisites yet?(i will have completed all of mine this fall). I only applied to rutgers because I can’t afford to go anywhere else. The only decent school that I can get into in Nj is rutgers.

Unfortunately in California because of all of the “transfer ready” state schools adacemic cons tell everyone to completely this thing called the IGETC it pretty much meets all of the general educations requirements for transferring. So my adcon told me to start completeing the IGETC(its easier if I just link it http://www.saddleback.edu/articulation/documents/IGETC1011final5.pdf</a>) so I did, I wasnt a microbio major. They advocate that you “MUST” complete this to transfer. In reality that is all BS assist.org (this website that suggests courses to take for you to fill all of your pre-reqs to transfers) tells pretty much all biology students to ignore it (I didnt find this out till this year). So in other words I have 36 credits of general education that fill about 18 of the 22 SAS credits the other 18 im sure will get thrown away.

Also didnt realize coming into college at matriculation mattered. HAH so I had to go from remedial math to pre-calc where I am at now, mind you im great at math so its not really that entertaining for me… I am just now starting my pre-reqs after being in CC for 2 years which is horse----. I am furious with my school to say the least… Not to mention they made it extremely hard to complete all of the pre-reqs because you have to jump through their hoops example:

Bio 3A General Biology Pre-req: Chem 1A

Chem 1A General Chem pre-req: Chem 3: Fundamentals of Chem

Chem 12A Organic Chemistry pre-req: Chem 1B etc…
So I have a semester before I can actually even start the pre-med stuff in Pre-cal, chem 3 and intro to bio(for fun).
they also require you to take trig before precal which is extremely pointless took the classo over the summer absolute joke of a course… got a 99.8%…

To sum it up no I have not. I was a soc/psyc major for a year so I have about all of that done and a bunch of GE credits so I’m not sure how its going to go.

I also have 71 credits with 24ish being remedials with 2 Cs because my college told me UCs dont look at remedials so the rest of the world does. Sadly it does not say “report your transferrable credits only” on the RU application or I wouldve been able to report a 3.7…
I can apply to UCLA with a 3.7 but not to RU’s kind of stupid…

I plan to knock out half of physics, chem, calc next semester which because of co-reqs is a 17 unit semester. That is if I dont get into RU. And some also disheartening that I just realized is I cant take physics 4A (pre-med one) until I complete calc 1. Ridiculousness.

Sorry for the essay.

RU is awesome from everything I’ve seen. There website is even better than any that I’ve seen rofl. UCD and UCLAs are extremely depressing compared to the hyp RU gives itself on its website.

Also I’m starting to wonder how much they expect you to have completed. Im guessing not vary much because of the 12 unit minimum seems like they dont really care what you complete as long as you are going toward something

oh thats ok. How were you able to pay your application fee? what link did you click on?

Once I got to the end it just made me pay I’m not quite sure hah
